Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 31, 2026
Grabsafe is a Chrome extension by Kindbyte Labs for taking and editing screenshots. It was built to be private. This policy explains what that means.
The short version
Grabsafe does not collect, store, sell or send any of your data. Your screenshots never leave your computer.
Screenshots
- Screenshots are created inside your browser on your own computer.
- They are never uploaded to any server. Grabsafe has no server.
- Your most recent screenshot is kept in your browser's local storage so the editor can open it. It is replaced by the next screenshot, and you can remove it at any time by removing the extension.
- Saved files go to your own Downloads folder.
Settings
Your settings (for example "After capture" and "Auto-blur") are stored locally in your browser using Chrome's storage. They are not sent anywhere.
Auto-blur
When you turn on Auto-blur, Grabsafe looks for emails, phone numbers and card numbers on the page you are capturing, only at the moment you take a screenshot, and only on your computer. It places a blur on top of them, takes the screenshot, and removes the blur. Nothing it finds is saved or sent.
No tracking
Grabsafe has no analytics, no ads, no cookies and no accounts. It does not track the websites you visit.
Permissions and why we need them
- activeTab: to capture the tab you are looking at, only when you click Grabsafe or use its shortcut.
- scripting: to scroll the page for full-page screenshots, to show the "select area" box, and for Auto-blur.
- downloads: to save screenshots to your Downloads folder.
- storage: to remember your settings on your computer.
Grabsafe does not ask for access to all websites, and it does nothing in the background while you browse.
Third parties
Grabsafe does not share data with anyone, because it does not collect any.
Children
Grabsafe does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
